I was in the process of upgrading from AVG 6 to AVG 7.0, however when the machine rebooted, it hangs at the Window icon screen. I need help.

I'm sorry I can't help you but I too have had problems with AVG. I recently updated and everything went crazy. I kept crashing...thought it was because of some other issues I was having. But then remembered I had updated AVG and that seemed to be when the problems started. I have since uninstalled AVG completely and seem to be ok. I can now at least get online and try to address my other problems. Not sure what is going on with AVG, I have had it for a while with no problem but that last update made everything go haywire. Good Luck!

Did you uninstall AVG6, before installing AVG 7?
While the upgrade process is supposed to remove the old version, it is better to remove it, using Add/Remove Programs first. Try Rebooting into safe mode, and uninstalling the old version.
It works perfectly well for me, so there is something on your machine it doesn't like. It is possible that you already have some form of malware infestation. Have you scanned with AdAware, or Spybot recently?
