You can donate money to relief agencies to help:
USA area:
American Red Cross, designate for tsunami relief
AmeriCares
Care

DO NOT send money to solicitations by phone or Internet, the scam artists will inevitably be using this tragedy to get money that will never see any of the affected areas.

Yes....good list PrntRhd.

The more information that continues to come in about this catastrophe, the more unbelievable it is.

The destruction goes far beyond anything most of us have ever seen, or hopefully, will ever see again.
The final death toll, if it is ever truly known, will be staggering.

They haven't even been able to check out a lot of areas yet, but the geographical size of the effected area is beyond belief and effects some 14 different Countries.....my heart goes out to these people and their Families. So many lives lost, countless millions homeless, children without parents and parents without their children.
Very very sad. :(

Links to some home movie out-takes. Check out how many people were on the beach in the Patong video. Hope they high-tailed it to higher ground...

PrntRhd,
Thanks for the links to the support organizations. I think I'll raid the cookie jar and donate a few 'cookies' to one of them.

A local radio station stated that the island of Sumatra 'moved' 100? feet laterally

Those videos are a bit hard to watch... It's kind of like watching the movie Titanic, but only real and on land...

Those poor people.. :(

It's really sad to even think about it. My mind (and I'm sure just about everyone else) just can't comprehend what those people are going through. There are a lot of places a person can go to make a donation. Amazon.com is another place. It would be nice if all of us would pick the charity of his/her choice and give a donation. PrntRhd gave a nice list of different places where a donation can be made. Sometimes in situations such as this, I tend to think to myself, "What good could the few dollars that I can donate help in such a disaster?" But then on the other hand, if millions of people gave just a few dollars, it can add up to a sizable amount.

I ran across a link to some "before and after" Satellite Photos of the Tsunami Disaster.

There is nothing graphic here as far as the poor innocent victims, but it gives you an amazing view of just how vast some of the destruction was.

The first few Photos show the receding water before the Waves hit....a warning sign for sure of what was to come.

But it's the Photos from around Set 5 (of 14) and beyond, that show the true scope and power of these waves......just unbelievable.

When you think about the huge geographical area that was effected, it's hard to imagine people will ever recover from this horrible event.
