Shouldn't be a problem if the remote is using WinXP and you know its ip address at the time when you attempt to access it. WinXP at the far end makes it relatively easy by using the wizard to send you an email with details of how to connect. The user can contact you separately to give you the password should they decide to use one (probably wise). The remote PC user can pull up the current ip address by entering ipconfig /all at a command prompt.
There are other ways of connecting remote access on other versions of windows both with third party software and with MS Netmeeting. The latter is easiest to connect with if you first establish a chat connection using msn's IM package and then transfer to Netmeeting; both should also use the same version of Netmeeting.
