Computer reverts to earlier settings

I'm going nuts! Just within the last few weeks this problem
has started. When I boot up first thing in the a.m., sometimes,
not always, I get a window stating,
"Insert Disk, the file netlnev4.cat on the Linksys LNE 100TX
Ethernet adapter Driver diskette cannot be found..insert
the Linksys ethernet adapter driver diskette in the drive"
Seems when booting up my computer doesn't recognize my Ethernet
card. My computer settings seem to revert back to maybe a year or more.
I also lose all setting for my Pocket Pc, printer and scanner.
Any ideas?

More details, please...operating system, computer...cpu, drive, motherboard, memory, etc.

Have you added/removed any hardware lately? software?

Tweaked/changed any system settings?
