Hello all

First post so sorry if this is the incorrect forum. I have recently tried to upgrade a family members PC by installing a CD-RW drive which has previously worked with minimal problems in my own PC (bit of a hand-me-down this one). However, on checking that all connections were secure, when it came to booting the PC up there was no power going through the system; in fact the power-supply did not even start to turn over. The only change was that there were now 2 CD drives where as before there was only one.

I have upgraded numerous PC's in the past, but have never come across this before. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance

If no fans run and no lights come on, then make sure there is power to the computer.

If ok, then make sure the power switch on the back of the computer is turned to the ON position.

If ok, then either swap out the power supply, or test it with a voltmeter:

If the PS is ok, then make sure the main power connector to the MB is secure.
