I too am building a new PC (first timer) and i started off EXTREMELY blind of anything in the PC world and kinda taught myself and then resorted to the helpful people on forums for the stuff i dont understand and heres wat i got for you guys...

DVI and all that fun stuff i've read so many descriptions that i've kinda confused myself so heres what im asking...

A. is there a video card that can put my pc on a basic TV??
B. is there a video card that can allow me to put Cable TV on threw my PC???

basically i want to either a. play some of my games on a biggerscreen without getting a 25-inch monitor or, watch some tv on my computer.

Welcome to The PC Guide Forums!

Any newer ATI All-In-Wonder or nVidia Personal Cinema video card will allow you to do that.

I have the ATI A-I-W 9800 Pro and it works very well for TV on the computer but I haven't used it much for computer on a TV.

If you want the latest and greatest wait until the ATI A-I-W X800XT it has a built in FM radio tuner and will support duel monitors and video out to a TV.

I have some experience in the making a tv a big monitor for your PC. In short, it looks pretty bad. Even an HDTV looks pretty bad. It looks ok with a small tv and word documents. But the bigger screen you get the worse it looks. The TV just isn't meant to be looked at up close. Sitting across the room can make things look a bit better but the words have to be pretty large. It's is pretty easy to set up. Jsut make sure you can take the connectors back to radio shack or best buy when it looks like crap. The good connectors are expensive.
