View Full Version : Missing avatar. . .?
I am using a Triumph Motorcycles flag on my avatar. It shows up on IE but not of Firefox. I uploaded it on both browsers. Not only that, it was on yesterday, but today I had to upload it again, but it still does not show up on FireFox--it IS there on the CP page under 'edit avatar' on both browsers, but not on the Forum pages in Firefox. . .any ideas . . .?

Donn, I can see it with Firefox.
Strange, I'm in FF right now and it ain't there. I tried logging out of FF twice already, that didn't help, but I also wonder why it was there yesterday but today I had to upload it again, but it was in the avatar space in the cp. . . .
well thanks. . .

Strange. Can you see other avatars in Firefox? Did you change any settings in Firefox, AV, or firewall?
Right, no avatars showing in FF for anyone, and I double checked in IE on the same thread to make sure. Strange, no I didn't change any settings, but I did run Spybot, Adaware, and AVG in safe mode this morning because I restarted to go into safe mode and missed it, but I noticed I got the screen that said Windows was taking note of new settings. Then I ran the AV etc in safe mode and everything checked. No symptoms of any kind, screen freeze once in a while probly because I'm doing too many things at once. But I didn't change any settings. You can see the Triumph logo now. What colors do you see?
:(
Back in IE and no avatar showing here either. . .ideas?

It's blue on black, Donn.
It wouldn't have been your firewall even if it was the only avatar you weren't seeing. The avatar is stored on this site therefrore does not need to pass through your firewall. It has to be a setting in FF.
You still use IE? I don't know what I'm gonna hafta do aboutcha...
I'll figure out what's up with your avatars if you figure out why my back button still brings me to the top of the previous page, ok? ;)

Blue letters, black background. You changed it from earlier. You sure you don't have a setting in your firewall that blocks pictures? Is there anything in place of the avatars? Words, empty space?
Did you double check your user control panel here on the forums?

In FF.
Tools> Options> Web Features> Put a check in the entire left column but not in the 'this site only' box. Also for now, make sure there's nothing in Exceptions to the right of 'load images'..
Weird. It isn't in IE now either, no space, the DONN is right up against the margin. I use IE occasionally to listen to some raido stations, but occasionally. I just checked it on IE to see if the Triumph avatar showed up for me. Nada. But it is on the avatar page in my cp. Yeah, I changed it to the blue/black flag just to see if maybe there was something about the first one that was causing the problem. . . . . edit: no avatars for anyone on any page in IE or FF . . ., but mine is showing to you guys?

Yep, Donn. Showing up in FFand IE, no problems. Every avatar shows OK.
Can you see other images on this site OK?

Strange Donn. I can see everyone's avatar too with both browsers. You're blocking something, just don't know what (or with which program).

Hey Donn, you didn't say before, did you check your forum User Control Panel? There is a setting to show, or block avatars.

Good catch, jlreich. That could certainly explain why he's not seeing anyone's with either browser.
Ok, here's what I have: on CP at the top where it indicates not to use the avatar I have no dot in the circle, below that where it indicates to use the avatar I have a dot in the circle. If I am logged out I can see everyone's avatars, however, when I log in--on either FF or IE--all the avatars disappear as the log in takes effect. Going to do look for FTT's setting in FF.
I don't get it: no bell, no avatars, and I'm not getting any younger either  .
FTT: settings are already as you desribe in FF . . .

You should be in "edit options", then down the page a little ways, there is a "Thread Display Options" area, then there is a radio button to allow avatars. Try that. and see what happens. Since you can see avatars if you are not logged on, that must be it. I hope.

Donn, you may have already checked this, but...
Go into UserCP:
Choose "Edit Options" and look for the "Thread Display Options" category. In this box there are three items, check all three. The items are:
1) Show signatures
2) Show avatars
3) Show Images
