Having a game installed and having a game running are two separate things. Merely installing a game only eats up hard drive space. If the game is not running, it will take up none of the CPU's time. Go ahead and install as many games as your hard drive will hold! As long as you leave at least 10% of your hard drive free and regularly defrag, your hard drive should stay clean and healthy (and performing well).
To see how much RAM you have installed, it's best to use a 3rd-party app like WCPUID (http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002374/src/download.html) (click on the top one labeled "wcpu330.exe") or Belarc Advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) (click on the Download link). You can also double-click on System in the Control Panel using Windows, but if you have onboard video, this will only tell you how much RAM Windows has to work with. The amount of RAM used by your onboard video will not be included and often confuses people (especially since onboard video is so prevalent in most OEM computers). Or you can click on the Start button, click on Run... and then type "dxdiag" without the quotes. DXdiag will also tell you about the onboard video you have by clicking on the Display tab and is easier to view, but Belarc Advisor will tell you pretty everything about your computer.

Forget Belarc. You should try something less invasive, like Sandra. Belarc is mostly spyware that will slow down your computer. You should even check out rivatuner, (small download). Most benches or diagnostics rely on cookies to work properly.

scylla, please refrain from posting such inaccurate information.
Belarc would not be such a widely recommended tool if it were "mostly spyware", and cookies are not relied upon by benchmarking/diagnostic software, they are used by websites for storage and retrieval of small amounts of information.

You have already been warned once, this is your last one. NO MORE misinformation or confrontational nonsense, I or the other moderators will ban you permanently if you ignore this, your third warning.
I am NOT KIDDING, this is your last warning.
Newbie:
Right click the "My Computer" icon and click "Properties". The amount of RAM installed will be shown on the main property sheet.

Press control alt delete if you have xp...look at the bottom of the task manager and check the CPU uisage anytime you like. My cousin thought that eating up your hard drive meant eating up your RAM too. He still odes and I never told him.... :D
