How old is a Compaq P500?

I have a chance to buy a Compaq P500 for $35 but I don't have any idea how old the P500 model is and can't get that info at this time.

C'mon, Google it. . . .

(edit), actually what matters is--is it working? If it's working you're halfway home. Then you ask if it has ever been worked on? New parts? (which ones?) original HDD? etc., because if you have to start replacing things. . .it could nickle and dime you to death in a matter of weeks. If you can use the memory chips and some other parts there--the power supply, fan units etc., whatever for replacement parts for your main squeeze, then yeah, sure it's worth $35 if only for the memory chips, if they are good, which you cannot tell if it is not working. . . .

So, rather than buying a $35 paper weight. . . :( save your money and check when your local library cleans out and auctions their old units, start asking around if anyone is tossing an older model for a new one. . .can you have it, and start collecting and cataloguing parts to put one together for --peanuts.
