Buy a stick and put it in. Pull the little white arms back and with a little bit of force, push the stick in. The arms will close by themselves securing it into place. It will only fit one way, so don't force it; look for the notch on the RAM and line it up with the notch in the slot. And ground yourself before handling the RAM - open up the case, and with the power still plugged in (but the computer turned off, of course) put both hands on the power supply for a second or two. Then unplug and continue. And you'll want PC-133 RAM.

I reccomend at least getting a 512. If possible

Do I remove the old Ram or can I leave it in?

123456:

Actually, running Win 98SE, tatty will want a MAX of 512.

tattybonce:

When performing a RAM upgrade, I usually put the new stick in slot "0" (where your existing RAM is now), and move the old RAM to the next slot - especially if the new stick has more capacity than the old one.

When you're done, enter the BIOS (right after you turn on the computer, usually by pressing F1 or DEL - you should see something on your screen telling you what to press). Don't change anything, just save & exit (I think that's usually F10, again, just find it on the screen).

You guys are fantastic! I have now brought some extra RAM and added it to my PC. I have changed the BIOS and run a defrag through my PC. It works brilliantly, thank you so much!!!!!
