I just completed assembly of a new PC:
Abit KT7A Motherboard with AMD 1.4 Thunderbird
384 MB RAM
Antec ATX Case with 400 Watt Power Supply
Gateway 13 Gig HDD (Older Drive) Primary Hard Drive with system
IBM Deskstar 60 GPX HDD (Partitioned x3)
GE Force 3 Video Card + Soundblaster 5.1
Floppy, CD-ROM and CD-RW + Linksys Ethernet Card + Modem Card
Older Gateway EV700 - 17" Monitor
System works great except for one annoying glitch:
When I turn it on with the front power button the computer appears to start up normal EXCEPT there is NO BEEP and the MONITOR does not turn on. I have to turn off the computer....using the power supply switch in the back....and then I can start up the computer with the front power up button and everything starts up normal....on the second power up attempt. Has always started up normal on the second attempt. If I power down (turn off) using the front power button the computer will not
BEEP and turn on the MONITOR on the second attempt. Only if I turn off the computer with the POWER SUPPLY SWITCH on the back.
CAN ANYBODY HELP!!!!!?????? Rocky Mountain Low
