I am at wits end with this SuSE Linux.
I upgraded KDE from 3.2 to 3.3 and it looks fine...then I go to Yast and find out that I have a bunch of conflicts. The YAST advice is to "downgrade" to an earlier version. Man...I have had it.
It took me three days of posting here and elsewhere to find out how to install Firefox. In WinXP it takes about fifteen seconds. It seems there is no end to the hassles and confusion. The forums are packed with people asking for help.
I can't even find a well written book on it.
This is just too much...I'll just have to wait for Linux to develope into something a non-geek can use.
Out.

I would have expected Yast to deal with any dependency issues that may have occcured when updating a major component like KDE. Thats usually the whole point of package managers like Yast, apt-get (in Debian) and others.

Was there any particular reason you wanted to have KDE 3.3 instead of 3.2?
If you really want to downgrade you should be able to do so simply by getting an earlier version of KDE and installing that. However, if you haven't actually experienced any problems with any software you use since the upgrade, I would suggest ignoring yast and sticking with what you have.
