I just wanted to comment that our new moderators are doing a great job, despite the recent wave of "up-to-no-good" new members--not all new members, mind you, but some.
It looks like you all have taken a tough stand and have really demonstrated a zero-tolerance approach to people trying to abuse our forums. I have seen at least five recent posts from different moderators basically telling the perpetrators to shape up or ship out. More importantly, I have seen the ones who chose not to conform to the forum rules are now sitting on the sidelines.
I, for one, appreciate it and just wanted to thank you all for your hard work. Great job.

I can see how this might be appealing to a newcomer but it is starting to irritate me. http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?p=213829#post213829
Frank, in nearly every one of those cases I would have just banned the person immediately. I banned two more today. This is a PC help forum, and not a place for people to post gibberish in an effort to get the regulars riled up.

Charles,
That is my point exactly. I would like to see the responding to these fools stop and just eleminate them.
I think they are trying to be patient and are a bit hesistant with the "ban hammer". This is normal for new mods, because banning someone is something that you only want to do when it is warranted. Patience, patience. :)

Frank, I understand your frustration and your viewpoint, but the new moderators are only following my lead, if you''ll think about it. You've been here quite a while, how many times have I warned someone and resisted the urge to hit the "ban button"? Sometimes not exactly patiently either...Sometimes recently my first impulse was to just ban the guy, but that would be going against my own policy.
Yes, I've seen a time or two the warnings were a bit more harsh than I may have done, but we're dealing with different people, different personalities and occasionally shorter fuses. Some will be more or less blunt than others, but so far I haven't seen anything that made me think seriously about reprimanding anyone. I think they have done a very good job so far, and once they "get their sea legs" so to speak, I don't foresee any problems. Just try to realize they will not all do things the same way I do, nor do I expect them to. Each will have his own methods, which I hope will stay fairly close to the way I've always done things in general with leeway for their own personal touch as well.
The past week or two we've also had a rash of trolls, which hasn't been fun and has everyone on edge it seems. Remember when that happened just before mjc was appointed moderator? Just about drove me up the wall...and not long before that (I hate to name names but...) iisbob showed up giving people a hard time-and rather than simply kick the guy out I tried to set the rules straight in a way that still left him the opening to join us instead of fight us, and he ended up a well accepted and respected member and contributor. Who knows when that might happen again. We won't know if we're too fast on the boot button...
Try and have patience, ever since we got indexed by Google this has been an ever increasing problem, I don't think it will go away, but once the new moderators are settled in I think we can keep a handle on it without too much uproar. Try and be patient...

Point taken ;) I will relax on this now :D
I guess my only concern is this- With new found power, anyone can become more aggresive then necessary. I felt the need to speak up and point out that I saw this starting to happen. Apperently my point of view only.
I do not wish to name names and since PrntRhd is the only name I have used so far, I appologize to him for this. I have expressed my appreciation to him for the work that he is doing along with my understanding that it can be duanting.
I would also like to express my appreciation to all the new mods for the same reasons ;)
Thanks
Frank

It's getting rough all over Frank spammers are getting desperate and so are the a-holes.. I have had to just set down tough rules when it comes to this situation and that it just cannot be tolerated i usually just don't reply to them just a quick boot and there gone.unless it's just one that stricks my fancy and then there bootied and i put it in the for all to see section. And then put there email addy into a section so the spambots pick it up. sometimes embarresment is the best medicine.
