A friend of mine gave me a pc that he didt want.
He had windows 98 on it,so i cleaned the HD and put windowsXP on it.
Everything went fine as of loading xp it has a 80gig HD 256megs of ram.
But i try to go on the internet and nothing happends it just sits there with a blank page and it looks like it is trying to get to the page but nothing happends. Am i doing something wrong is it internet explorer messing up?

First of all, did you try turning off Windows firewall?

Firewall is turned off, i went to control panel and turned off firewall. Went to internet explorer to check the internet. All it does theres a white page and on the bottom bar it keeps blinking finding site with sites going across. And thats all it does.

Check for the modem in the Device Manager and also to see if there are any yellow question or exclamation marks next to it.

Have you checked to see if it is set to work off line?

Go to FILE and click on it and then look down list to see if this is selected.
