I recently deleted some files (photo's I had taken), is there any way I can retreive them? (I deleted them from the recycle bin).

Thanks in advance

if you deleted them from the recycle bin You'll proboly have to have a third party recovery software to retreive them.not a hundred percent posative, what windows you running?do you have a go back program or system restore.I'm not posative but you might be able to do scanreg_/restore but don't quote me on this, hang out some one will know the formula.

Your best bet is to get a 3rd party "undelete" program to recover your files. The longer you wait before running a undelete process the greater the chance that the files will be overwritten with new data

This link is to a program called "undelete"
http://www.diskeeper.com/undelete/undelete.asp

At the bottom of the page is a freeware program that will show you if your files are still there for recovery.

Another thing to keep in mind when trying to recover accidentally delelted files is don't use any disk utilities like defrag....your chnaces decrease to almost impossible if you do.

I have used undelete, but the freeware version will only recover small files, (can't remember the size) you have to buy the full version to undelete larger files.

The other freeware sounds good, let us know how you go on.

This pretty much tells you what everyone who responded to your post already. Also windows 98 does have go back. Well it's not really go back but it's a system restore. Go to the DOS prompt type scanreg_/restore as Yoda mentioned. Replace the underscore with a space.

You already have an undelete utility. It's in DOS and it's called...undelete, of course. Boot to a Command Prompt and type undelete. I think this will recover files deleted from the recycle bin too, but only if the physical location where they were originally stored has not been modified by either defrag or by being used as part of the swap file.

I grabbed the download suggessted above, and gave it a spin....it found 22 deleted entries on my c: partition....about 8 of them it could recover, but this was stuff I deleted before I transferred the contents of my drive over to my new one, so I didn't really expect there to be all that much that would be recoverable, kind of like after defragging. All in all it looks like a pretty handy little utility...considering some of the competetion ranges over $100 for it...and it is freeware no ads, no spyware...truly freeware.....

The undelete command is an external command and is available in MS-DOS 5.0 - 6.22

Here (http://www.computerhope.com/undelete.htm) is the complete info on it.....
