There is a AMD 1600 processor chip that I might get a board for eventually, and I was wondering if I need to get a used board that is made for that speed and chip, or if I can get a new board capable of handling a faster processor. Will it still work well with that chip? Another way of saying it, is will new boards capable of using a 2.4GHZ processor for example, still run fine with a slower chip??

You can indeed use a newer mobo for that older CPU. The beauty of AMD's Socket A platform is that the latest mobo's will literally support every single Socket A CPU ever made!! You could put a Duron 600 into a new Socket A (NForce2, KT600) mobo.

Cool, huh? :D
