Amd 100MHZ, 4mb ram boot problem

Ok my friend gave me an old pc, that i'm going to have it for a server. When I first booted up the pc worked fine, but there was no cd-rom device so I opened the case and installed an lg 52x cd-rom and i also changed the cmos battery and I cleaned the cpu. Ok i wanted to start the pc but when i start it the screen goes blank and nothing happens, no beep... :( I think i made a mistake when i installed the cpu :(

Hmmm... can you give more details about the system? Mobo, chipset, more info on the CPU, etc? Sounds like an old AMD K5 PR100 to me, but is this Socket 5 or Socket 7? Was the system plugged in when you replaced the battery? AT power supply? Does the PSU have a switch in the back?

I guess just give more info in general. :p
