Hi all,

I have almost enough parts to build a spare P III computer.
I have a PIII 933 with a 133 FSB. I also have 256 of PC100.
When the mobo detects the memory will (or can) it slow the FSB of the processor to match, or will I have to get PC133 memory.

I'm most likely going to use this mobo:

Sure, the mobo supports 100 MHz on the FSB, so you can use the PC100 - you'll just be underclocking the CPU. I've done similar with an old K6-2. It may require a jumper setting change to get it there - you'll need to check the manual.

Actually, that chipset may be capable of running the FSB and RAM speed independently. If so, you can run that PIII at full speed, and just pair it up with slower RAM. Not entirely sure if that chipset supports that feature, but I'm 90% sure, so it's worth a shot.

If not, do like pentachris said and slow down the CPU. That will give you a PIII 700 if you do it that way. Still plenty for a secondary system, IMO.
