I have an emachines t3092. i bought pc2700 corsair value ram 2x512 to replace the 512mb pc2700 stock ram. i took out the old ram and put in the 2 new ones. My computer starts up fine but when i try to run any pc games or video files my computer restarts. i have integrated graphics btw. i tried using one new corsair it wont start.. it keeps restarting b4 windows loads. i tried in both slots. i tried using the stock ram with one of the new ram and the computer starts but video games dont work.
Does anyone know what is goin on?
thanks

Sounds like your motherboard might not be compatible with the RAM, or the RAM itself is bad. Try running a memory test like Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) to see.

well.. the site doesnt list this ram as compatible... so it might be it.. why wouldnt this ram be compatible though. it has the same exact specs as the ones that are compatible...??

If you replace the original RAM by itself...does it work without rebooting??
If so, it would definitely appear to be a problem with the RAM. It could possibly be the motherboard's RAM slot...
What I would suggest doing, is if the original RAM works...try one stick of the new RAM in the same slot as the working older RAM...I'm assuming that the new RAM is seating snugly...enter the BIOS and determine that the RAM is recognized correctly. SAVE and EXIT and see if it boots without restarting...
If that works, add the second stick, enter the BIOS to be sure it is recognized again...SAVE and EXIT...see what happens...

"If you replace the original RAM by itself...does it work without rebooting??"
The original ram works fine when i put it back in.. When i try using one new it wont load. But when I use both new it loads but i have video problems and it auto restarts
I will try looking at Bios later on tonite. If bios does recognize it, What does this mean?
BTW, when i used both new sticks, I looked in my computer properties and it said that i had a gig of ram minus the 64mb video card. So i think it was recognized... not sure though.

As far as MEMTEST86, I seem to remember that you have to put it on a floppy and boot from the floppy. The utility (at least the versions I used) will not run from within Windoze or from a command prompt while Windoze is running.

hey guys,
i checked the bios with one of the new sticks in both slots .. it recognizes it but it wont boot to windows.. keeps restarting. Also.. for some reason when i use the 2 new ones windows starts but the graphics are alittle screwed.. a few gray lines run across the screen. Games still dont work with the new ram.
help me

I'm not sure the exact problems one can encounter if the BIOS is not refreshed with the addition of new RAM, but I would encourage that after adding both of the new sticks you enter the BIOS and SAVE and EXIT...
pop pop is correct that the memory tester mentioned loads and runs without interference from Windows.

why wouldnt this ram be compatible though. it has the same exact specs as the ones that are compatible...??Because you have an eMachines computer! OEM systems aren't like custom-built ones. You can't just throw in any RAM you want. In fact, even some standard mobo's are picky about the RAM they use. My guess is that the Corsair RAM you bought isn't compatible with your eMachine's proprietary mobo & BIOS.
Go to Crucial's (http://www.crucial.com/) website and select eMachines from the pull-down list in "Step 1". Go from there. Crucial will set you up with better RAM that is 100% guaranteed to work in your particular eMachines system. For those of you with pre-built OEM machines, this is the only way to get high-quality RAM that will definitely work with your system.
