Hi,

my power supply fan continues to run when system is in Standby, and so is always on. Is this a problem?

Most power supplies and fans are rated for 100,000 hours MTBF(mean time before failure). If you do the math it should run 24/7 for about 11 something years before you see sign of failure. But remember, that's just purely mathematical calculations, you'd to take in consideration many other factors as well.

Hmmm... 11 years should be just about enough!

What other factors need to be considered, apart from the obvious one of the cost, which I assume would be v minimal?

I wonder what kind of lubrication is supplied in the bearings of these fans?
If it's a liquid does it tend to dry up?
Or do they use dry lubrication [graphite]?
Or PTFE liners?
