If I am reading this (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050215/ap_on_hi_te/security_conference_13) right, it will be free for authenticated users of windows. With a paid cooperate version.
And they are working on a AV, to be released by years end. Possibly with a free version?
Hmmm.... Is Microsoft being forced to turn over a new leaf by the all the freeware like Firefox and Linux??

I don't think anyone is going to have any confidence in this at all.
The biggest cause of all the spyware etc is M$ software, so getting them to patch it all up (and charge you for the fully functional stuff) is a big no-no.
I'll stick with the third party stuff - ZA, NOD32, Spybot S&D. When I've got the hang of it, I hope to have most of my stuff running on Linux & open source, until then, I wouldn't trust M$ any further than I have to.

I certainly agree with you Deddard.
My point is M$ is being forced to start taking action. They are starting to feel the pains of freeware. I will not have anymore faith in M$ because of this. Although I must admit, my anger at the thought of them trying to charge me to clean up their own mess has subsided a little.

What good is it, if it's already been breached (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02/09/banking_trojan/)?
