Hi all,
Been using thunderbird no problems for over a month now but yesterday when i wanted to get mail, a popup window displayed

>please enter a new password for user xxxxxx on pop......

no matter what i put in the box, i receive...

>sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop...... responded:invalid user or password<

i had a look at thunderbird forums but the suggestions did not work. (Going into tools-optiions-advanced ....to see passwords, but i only have password for smtp entry. )

I use Avg email scanner and Opera for browser.
Can anyone help!

cheers
anton

Well...
not sure if an ISP provider problem was rectified or not(will contact them eventually) but playing around with certain controls in thunderbird...view-display attachments online....and disabling that seemed to allow email through!
Coincidence???

An entry appeared in my passwords box for the pop client with the same password as the smtp entry.
Anyway, this is what "display attachments online" does...

"If you do not wish to see any images, remote or stored in mail messages, or if you want to be able to turn on images quickly, open the View menu, choose "Message Body As", and then choose "Simple HTML" or "Plain Text". Also, open the View menu, and uncheck "Display Attachments Inline".

To turn on images for a specific message, choose the "Original HTML" option and check "Display Attachments Inline"."
