View Full Version : Startup Wallpaper Display Flicks

This may be simple but am just curious what maybe causing it. My Win 98SE boots good except when it start displaying the wallpaper after startup, the wallpaper flick to black screen for a moment and back. All's well then. Anything I can do? I have already re-installed the Win98SE CD due to other problems but the flicker is still there.

I think you'll find that the flicker is just the operating system displaying the chosen desktop backdrop color before the wallpaper is displayed. You could test this by changing the desktop color to say yellow, then resellect the wallpaper image and see if the flicker changes color on next reboot.

That flicker at startup is normal it is caused when windows loads the video drivers in to memory and loads your selected screen resolution and color depth. Windows has to reinitialize your video adapter for the changes to take affect
