The last few days when im browsing the web, If i click a link that needs to open up in a separate window, usually a javascript or something, the window opens but it just stays blank?????

it's really annoying as loads of pages on the internet require this action to view the page.....

any ideas i've enabled javascript settings in explorer...any other ideas?

If I reduced the new window ( Minimize ) I found another message from IE. Those annoying Info is being sent Click OK to continue.
Once I clicked the OK the new page opened again and finished loading.

Why is it doing this ? I have no idea. Yet

Check this (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum15/HTML/000909.html) out...it seems like IE (mostly it seems to occur in IE6) has developed several but possibly related problems with clicking on links and openning other browser windows, after running a Windows update...

Could each of you find the version numbers for urlmon.dll and mfc42.dll?

Ok, after doing a little more digging I came up with this:

BUG: Latest Security Patch (Q316059) Crashes Internet Explorer When You Call execScript (Q318426)

It seems like one of the recent updates is a trouble maker...it fixes one thing but breaks another

Here are the Links in Raw text.
You should be able to Cut and Paste them into IE address bar ..

MJC My

Urlmon.dll is ver.6.0.2713.1100

MFC42.dll is ver. 6.0.8665.0

I read the MS report and the work around,
Yah Right use Visual C++ to edit ?

Quote from MS
Change the Visual C++ Code to Call the Function Directly
1. In Microsoft Visual C++, replace the code to call execScript (which is implemented in CallExecScript ) with the code to call the script method directly (which is implemented in CallDirect

End Quote

Sorry MS but most users don’t have Visual C++ on there systems
Or Remove the Patch and open your system up to the original security flaw .

Rick,

After a little checking I seem to have come up with that the urlmon.ddl version 6.0.2713.1100 and the mshtml.dll and mshtml.tlb, files from that update are the problems......checking with a couple of people, those with version 6.0.2712.300 (which is the version before .1100 ver) don't have the problem, so it is probably a combination of errors.

MS had the instructions on how to manually replace the mshtml files.

Of course a fix that hasn't been discussed...get another browser!

One other thought, has anyone tried going into the Advanced options under Internet Options and making sure that the "reuse browser windows for shortcuts" is checked?

Mozilla seems to work fairly well in XP...so far every OS I tried it in it works quite well; 98se, XP and Mandrake. I would like to try it in 95 and 2k but I don't have access to any machines running them...
