Hi all.
:)

I have a clean installed Win98SE box, that is asking for Java whenever the client goes to certian sites. I know for a fact, that when she gave me her Win98SE CD to install the machine from, that I never put Java in.

I tried searching these forums, but no luck.
I tried the Sun website, but there are SO MANY Java related things to download, I could be there for days...

What I want, is the simple single-file .exe file that will install Java support on a 98SE box. Don't really care about what version, so long as it will run OK on 98SE.

I'm not sure if I am supposed to be downloading JRE's or SDK's or many other different options available for download.

Can someone here enlighten me as to how to proceed?

Many thanks.

The version of Java I used to install, came in the form of a simple .exe file, and you run this under 95/98, and it installs the Java support, and provides an icon for it under Control Panel.

This is what I want - but I cannot find the file I used to install this - it was years ago...

Thanks guys!
:)

Try here (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp).
Choice of either manual or automatic installation files.

Installation Instructions
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000010400.xml

Download the Windows(0ffline) from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

FYI
That is the Java runtime or JRE. The SDK actually includes the JRE but has the whole KIT for a SOFTWARE DEVELOPER.

Just seen that David beat me to it. You can use the manual installation of course but you need to stay on line during the whole process. Also if you get the offline download you can move it around and use it on many machines.
