Infected!

I need a little help with my DD (darling daughter) computer. At college she is connected to broadband and persists in DLing/Sharing MP3 files. About every 6 months I am roped into "fixing" her computer. I usually have to clean out a huge amount of malware/spyware and delete various file sharing programs.

This time after running Adaware, Spybot S&D, Housecall, and Stinger, I still have major problems. Also ran Adaware and Stinger in "safe mode".

Symptoms are:
Norton AV won't run
Device Manager won't stay open for more than 3-4 seconds
msconfig.exe opens and closes quickly
regedit.exe opens and closes quickly
Admin Services in Control Panel won't open or opens and closes

I've run a HJT scan but didn't see anything unusual but I'm a total noob at reading those things.

Any suggestions as to where I should start on this?? Is it time for a total HDD wipe and re-install?

Post the Hijack this log so we can see what's happening. Split it over two or three posts if necessary.

Computer went back to Ole' Miss day before yesterday. I'll get DD to run HJT and send me a log. It really isn't a big log. I did "fix" a few BHO objects but that didn't affect the problem. I'll get back soon!!
