My computer is hanging when the screensaver kicks in. have to Ctrl Alt Del and end task on several programs, or simply restart to restore usage. According to Windows help it is a hibernate problem with win 98 se. They do not tell you how to fix this problem? Any ideas? This is very frustrating! Thanks alot.

Go to the power management icon on the control panel and set everything to never....generally power management and screensavers are not compatible, so if you want to run a screensaver you should turn off power management...

point your mouse on any blank space on your desktop (space without an icon or anything)

and left click, then RIGHT click on properties>> click screensaver TAB>> choose "none">> next click "Power" options>> set "Turn off Monitor"-to the lenght of time you normally would have your screensaver kick in.

set the rest to "Never", "Never", "Never".

that should do it.

edit: mjc beat me to the 'punch', but would like to point out that the way I described above will give you the option to have your monitor TURN OFF automatically at any set amount of time you want.

note: be sure to click "APPLY and OK" when done for settings to take effect.
