Restoring my Gateway PC

I hope someone can help, I have a Gateway 400 PC that is having alot of problems so I'd like to format and restore the hard drive. I could realy use some help to make sure I do it right.

The problems are with the sound stuttering, slow performance, the scary blue screen that tells you that something bad just happened popping up all the time.

So, can this pc be fixed?

It should have come with a restoration cd and maybe a windows cd as well. First you need to backup your data somehow, unless you don't care.

Then put in the restoration cd and reboot, it should walk you through the process...
