Hello all,
After hours of research I've run out of ideas so I thought I'd run this through a forum for some insight from others...
I just bought 4 new Panaflo FBA08A12L fans and only 1 of the 4 works when plugged into my Soyo P4I875P mobo or my Vantec fan controller. I can get them to spin using a 9 volt battery so I know they should work, and all the 3 pin leads the place I bought them from threw in check out for continuity and they appear to be wired correctly (I even tried reversing the power and ground on one just for kicks). So why won't they work when plugged in when any other fan I try will? Any ideas? I find it hard to believe that I've gotten 3 faulty fans at once, though I know anything's possible. Could I just be overlooking something?
Thanks for any advice in advance.

Have you checked to see whether the leads into the three errant fans have the wires all in the same position as the working fan? I'm wondering if the RPM lead might be misplaced in the connector block...just a thought.
Also, welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

As my luck would have it, The one fan that did work is the most buried one lol - I was hoping to avoid pulling it out again as it's the front intake fan and to remove it I'll have to pull my vid card and two hard drives. Not that big a deal really but still a pita!
I can see the connector that plugs into the mobo easy enough and it is wired the same as the other 3 but what I can't see is the end that connects to the fan. (they plug into the fan end as well on Panaflo's, just in case you're not familiar) but that is why I reversed them on one to try it just in case.
I'll probably pull that one fan out tomorrow to take a look but I've had enough fun for tonight!
Thanks for your help :)

Ok, I just finished putting it all back together and here's what I found: The power and sensor wires were reversed on the 3 fans that weren't working. So I popped out the connectors and plugged them back in where they belonged and voila! Super quiet case.

We appreciate your letting us know how the fix was accomplished.
Leaves a little left to be desired about their quality control though, yuthink?
You started out batting only a .250 with that batch! (I went 1 for 3 with some junk RAM recently :o )
One good thing to learn in this instance as well is, the crossed wires didn't ruin any part of the mobo. I'm still using molex plug fans in my pc's. It'll be decades before I want to rely on a mobo to provide power for something like 5 or 12 volts. But I'm a COF (crotchety ole' f*rt) and don't commit to change very fast anyway.. Pull my finger if you want more ;)
the place I bought them from threw in check out for continuity and they appear to be wired correctly
Seems they be needin' to replace the batteries in their testers. I was going to suggest that you test them for yourself. Digital multimeters are very inexpensive but very indispensable in times as this. Lessons on use are free here as well
Good to see you got it worked out. One cannot ever have enough fans when in the limelight eh? :D

As Fusss said, thanks for letting us know! Sometimes we get lucky with a diagnosis...:)
