as a new user to email & computers i need help! i sometimes get emails that have attachments,and when i go to open these attachments it tells me that there is not a program associated with it.the attachments end with .pps. thanks for any suggestions

The sender can sometimes adjust his or her encoding method directly from within the e-mail program. Changing Sender's Encoding in Eudora: 1)Go to the Special Menu, to Settings. Select Attachments from the left column.
2) Select another encoding method from the options in the right side of the screen:


* If you're sending a file from your Mac to another Mac user, then choose BinHex for Encoding.
* If you're sending a file from your Mac to a Windows user, then choose Base 64 (MIME) and do not select Compression if the option is available.
*Turn Quoted Printable Encoding off (the QP button at the top of an outgoing message).
When sending to a PC, turn "Include Macintosh Information" off (the little Mac icon in the new message icon bar), and make sure you're NOT sending with AppleSingle encoding (the square icon, third from the left, on the new message icon bar).
Changing Sender's Encoding in Outlook Express:

1. Go to the Edit Menu, to Preferences. Expand Outlook Express and select Message Composition.
2. Select Attachment Encoding method from the pull down menu. Choose options as above in Eudora instructions depending on platform of person you're sending to.
