I have a Compaq computer with a Voodoo 5500 graphics card and my Proview 17 inch monitor wont come on and makes a ticking noise and, smells a little like burning plastic. I took out the voodoo card and bought a new monitor, was wondering if the problem could of been the voodoo card? was afraid of putting it back in my computer without knowing. thanks for any help.

Dear rtcatfish:
I suppose that your new monitor is working fine. Have you tried to test the other monitor in a different computer? If it works, then it is the card. You also have to make sure your monitor is compatible with the Voodoo 5500 card. You might get information from Compaq or from the manufacturer of your new monitor. I suggest that you contact the dealer where you bought your Voodoo card and tell him/her it's defective, and you might as well reinstall it and try your old monitor with it. Remember to first test your old monitor in another computer and afterwards, reinstall the card and test it with your old monitor. I wouldn't risk your new monitor at all! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
Good luck.
