Do you mean Virtual Private Networks instead? VPN lets you connect into a network securely by remote location PC by tunneling and encription over the Internet.

Or did you mean distributed computing (grid networking of many PCs)?

FYI,
This will require a VPN-capable server on the main site end or a device that provides VPN services in the router (high end router) itself on the main location, it requires lots of computer power in those devices to run the encription services.

VPN-capable server being a computer with w2k or w2k server on it and a good cpu ?
Ive looked at a few VPN routers and read your link, and it seems that the routers have a slow processors inside.
If i go the client and server way what would need ?
Server - w2k/wk2server. (spare pc)
client and client software. (got client, need software)
Cables.
NICs/onboard LAN.
At this time i have a Linksys router (not VPN) that my cable broadband plugs into, would it be ok to plug the VPN server into the router or should it be setup in another way ?
