Hello everyone. I support a group of custom built computers that have been given me to many headaches. This is what happens. The computers will sit always powered on. Every so often some of the computers just randomly reboot themselves. I check the event log and verify the event logged was never stopped before started. Then sometimes i get a boot sector failure. I log into the bios and the hard drive does not exist in the bios. It just lists the hard drive as not installed. So i unplug the machine and let it sit for a day. Start up the machine and log into the bios and the hard drive reappears. The computer boots up like nothings wrong. But sometimes after the hard drive reappears it is corrupted and has to be repaired. The units have VIA low voltage Processors. I believe that the PSU is allowing voltage fluctuation in and causing random reboots. Or voltage is dropping and causing brown outs. Does anybody know about voltage fluctuation with a PC and what is an exceptable level. Also any additional ideas.
