Good day to all!

Compaq 5441
Award Bios

Im planning to upgarde my BIOS but i dont know the bios string or I.D. well i can only find this string. according to the site ive visited, by simply pressing 'pause' while the PC counts the memery during POST. problem is i cant go to POST cause my PC boots automatically after COMPAQ logo appears. i can go to BIOS setup by simply pressing F10.
what about POST? in DELL youll simply press 'TAB'.

If you have a COmpaq computer, to update your BIOS you need to go through Compaq, any other BIOS most likely won't work. Compaq's update pages work off your model number....

well, is there any key to show this POST? i tried the site but i didnt find any BIOS upgrade there. anyway thanks guys.
heres the real story of all this stuff. i tried replacing my 4GB HDD with a new 40GB but the process only took me to that COMpaq logo using a strat up disk. when i tried to detect my new HDD on my BIOS, the BIOS of Compaq only has, i think, 5 options without HDD detect option thats why i come with the idea to upgrade my BIOS. am i doing the right thing?
now im planning to format and partiiton the new HDD to the other computer for me to know if my HDD is not working.
thanks.

sorry, I didn't get what you meant.

when you see the red compaq insignia press the "Esc" - escape button at the top left of your keyboard- this will show post.

You should also go to the site listed by SEA69 and grab the ROMPAQS AND SYSTEM SOFTWARE

The diag program should help with getting the hard drive setup
