Dell has their Inspiron 1000 on sale for $600. It has Mobile Intel® Celeron® Processor 2.20GHz, 14.1-in XGA. The only thing it says about a graphics card is "Integrated Graphics Card included".

Im not a serious gamer but would like it to play Halo and Half Life and watch DVD movies. Would this notebook work for this?

Here's a link (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&oc=i1000T1&s=dhs)

Thank you

possibly, it has intergrated graphics. I belive that works by eating up some of your memory for the video, instead of having a actual card for it. My 4700 has intergrated graphics and runs halo, but whenever the cpu works harder the game slows down considerably.

The Inspiron 1000 is not a gaming laptop or even close to it. It's built for internet connectivity, email, and business apps like wordprocessing, spreadsheats, and powerpoint presentations. Will it play a DVD movie? Yes, and I suggest an extra battery purchase if you are travelling on airplanes.

Honestly, I have been through many laptops in my years of travel. Today's method of crash car screening methods with 50 lb. luggage bags following your laptop to the finish line seriously decreases your laptops life expectancy. I'd hate to spend big money for a laptop to produce mediocre gaming at best, to watch it get rammed into non-working order.

To me the phrase 'gaming laptop' is an oxymoron anyway. There really isn't one. Sure, some will perform okay, but they will cost a fortune, and still not measure up to a midpriced desktop.

If you want a 'gaming' laptop, you better get out your big bucks, but for a decent laptop the Inspiron's are good machines. Integrated graphics mean that it uses a portion of the main RAM as the video RAM. Not the best for video performance, but fine for watching DVD's. Give serious consideration to getting 512MB of memory.

My Inspiron 1100 is a 1.5 years old, and is trouble free. A little iced tea did a number on the keyboard a while back, but Dell had me a replacement keyboard the next day.
