I am currently trying to print documents from Excel 2003 in FastDraft mode which is a feature of the HP Deskjet 6543 printer. Despite setting the default printer settings to FastDraft all of my existing Excel Spreadsheets do not print FastDraft and I have to go into the printer properties each time and change it to FastDraft (only after the document has been saved does it save the fastdraft setting). However when creating new Excel Spreadsheets my default settings are correct - I wonder if anyone could assist me in resolving this problem?
Thanks

If I've understood you, only existing files have that problem, you need to open them atleat once and then save them after setting the printer to fastdraft mode, new file created afterwards don't loose the fast draft settings.
Does the printer provide any software tool/utility to configure your printer? What happens when you configure your printer to use fastdraft mode from there?
What happens when you configure your printer to use fastdraft mode from the control panel?(COntrol Panel==> Printers and Faxes)
