I've just connected my new WinXP Pro box to my router, which is in turn connected to my cable modem. My Windows 98 SE box (my main system at this point, in fact I'm making this post from that computer) also connects to the cable modem through the router. The router is a SMC unit with 4 ports, where the Win98 box has LAN port 1 and the WinXP box has LAN port 2. The router software is installed on both computers.
What I need to do is set up a way to move files from the Win98 box to the WinXP computer (which is eventually going to become my main system) via the router. I'm not sure exactly how to go about doing that. I have Internet connectivity working on both machines but I don't know if either machine is configured to read files on the other (actually, I don't think the Win98 machine would be able to read a NTFS-formatted drive so I'm going to have to do the file transfer using the WinXP machine as the active box). The last time I did anything like this was back in '01 (before XP's release) when I used DCC to move files from a Win95B computer to the current main system (the Win98 one). Any ideas or suggested resources?
