Compaq 1200 Broken AC input

The center pin in the AC input recepticle has broken off on my Compaq 1200. I know I can repair it BUT....I can't open the plastic case to access the problem. There must be something more that just removing the screws but I'm stumped. What's the trick???

Here is a link to a compaq service manual. It's not the 1200 but it contains many of tricks you are looking for. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it.

Note it gives you step by step instructions on how to disassemble. I picked 1200XL101 as you did not post the exact model for your Compaq.
