When my pc starts it launches into a blue screen with windows protection error and reccomends such things as running scandisk and virus checkers etc. However, when my computer starts at the options screen with safe mode etc. nothing will work:- not safe mode or anything else. I recently had a broadband modem installed; could it be anything to do with that? Please help as this is posing quite a problem!!
-Windows XP
-6oomz pentium
-10g Hard drive
-64m RAM

First, 64mb of ram is REALLY pushing your luck with XP...it takes more than that just to load the OS, so you're effectively running every program out of virtual memory...that could be part of the problem...

You can try booting to your XP cd and repairing your current installation...

One more thing, how full is your hard drive? If it's really close to full, that could be causing problems with the virtual memory you need, and result in crashes, etc.
