Hey guys, heres the problem. I turn on my computer, and then as the windows xp logo appears and begins loading, i get this error:
PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_ERROR
Two questions: what is it, and how can i fix it.

Whoops, hit end. here're the system specs

ABIT KV8 Pro Mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
512 MB of Kingston RAM
Samsung 160GB HD
Lite-ON 52x32x52 CD-RW
Sony Floppy Drive
Raidmax case and 420 Watt power supply

By the way...
my computer was working fine only hours before, when I was playing some battlefield vietnam with my brother. So... i'm pretty sure that all the hardware should be good.

Are you able to boot into safe mode?
Hit F8 just before the logo appears and select "Safe Mode".
This problem came all of a sudden or after you made some changes to the system, eg installed new software, updated drivers, changed bios settings, overclocked etc.?

And BTW, Have you got Roxio GoBack/Norton System Works installed?

Check if the hard drive is making any unusual noises.
If it is, then it's probably toast.
