My brand new PC does not have any floppy disk drive. Is there an alternative way to create rescue disks? Do I really need them?

You can burn it to cd or put it in the web or LAN.
And ofcourse you need it,cause what you gonna do if your system crashes?
You have to restore it,but you won't be able to do that cause u don't have a rescue cd.I know one program which able to create a bootable media and you can choose what kind of media carier should it be.I have a great expirience with this software. It saves my sytem a lot of times. Here it goes

Partition Magic is a partitioning program.

Ghost and Acronis TrueImage are imaging programs you might use for restorations.

Do I understand correctly that Partition magic cannot create rescue discs on any other media than floppy discs?
I have made these floppy discs on another computer with a floppy drive. Can I burn these on a CD and use it on the other computer?

See if this tells you how.

I expect anything can be added to the CD at any time provided it's a CD-RW disk.

I tried it. I made two CDs from the two diskettes. First one is bootable, so no problem. Computer could boot to the first CD, then it asked for the second DISKETTE!!!

That was quick!
I 've never done this myself so wouldn't know how to prevent that.
You shouldn't make 2 CD's, two floppies should only add a tiny amount of content to the single bootable "Ultimate Boot CD".
You should be able to add tens or hundreds of floppies worth to a single CD.
Did you follow the instructions for customizing the CD?
Paul Komski is the guy who knows about Boot CD's.
He uses his all the time and likes them; I don't use the two I have because I've never figured out how to use and customize them.
Did have a look at their content this afternoon. The disk booted very fast and it was easy enough to navigate to a selected prog, but some of the prog's supplied [the ones I looked at] were rather primitive; perhaps if better prog's were added it would be more impressive.

Well I am not interested in boot Cds. I just want to create rescue CDs for partition Magic on a computer that does not have floppy drive.

It makes good sense make a bootable CD that has more than just one program on it.
Eventually you will end up with a whole sheaf of CD's when the prog's could all go onto a single CD.
And the means of doing it has all been figured out for you and explained by the makers.

From the Symantec website:

"Is there a way to use a bootable CD as the PartitionMagic rescue disk?
There is no need to make a bootable PartitionMagic CD. The PartitionMagic 8.0 program CD is already bootable and allows you to run PartitionMagic from it."

They don't make it obvious, but you don't need to make rescue disks--just use the CD on its own. Rescue disks (floppies) are only needed if you have a machine that won't boot from a CD.
