medion notebook

Hi all,
I have been given a medion 9580-a notebook to take a look at. The problem is it wont boot, when the adaptor is inserted the led starts flashing. Is it possible that the charging board is knackered or could it be more serious. Mt friend said it got v hot then he smelt the dreaded carbon etc and it died. I suspected maybe battery etc but has anyone come across this. I would imagine the flashing LED is a giveaway?

The flashing LED is nothing more of a giveaway than insufficient power. It could be the power adapter, power connectors, charging board, or motherboard. Start at veryifiying the adaptor is ok, and move on from there. The symptom of smell though leads me to guess a bad motherboard or CPU. The only way to verify is to dissasemble and test if you can.

It was the motherboard, but too uneconomical to repair.
