Hey WIllROP and JromeroROP,

What's the ROP acronym stand for anyway?

Regional Occupational Program (http://www.smcoe.k12.ca.us/rop/) maybe? I'd almost bet on it. All from the same general location in CA too, if I'm not mistaken...I'm wondering if they might even know each other...hmmm....

I have used many ASUS boards with good results. I have a new Abit KG7-RAID. WHile it did behave funny while installing my memmory (only works if I install one DIMM in slot 1 and the other in 4) it has performed like a champ otherwise.

Abit has lots of great features in thier BIOS as well. I would have to give Abit the edge at the moment.

Hey,

Have never owned an Abit board, but I do have an Asus P4T. Pretty sweet.

Cheers,

AbitKR7A RAID the only things i see wrong is the placement of the 4th memory slot Or the AGP slot which ever you prefer.you have to install mem. before AGP card (which is no big deal)
And the positioning of the IDE connectors should be in one group. And from what i understand is you might have to be careful installing the heatsink kind of cramped?? But other than that as soon as i can I'm ordering one. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mr. Indecision here. I went back and forth between Abit and Asus --- ordered Abit KG7. I'll be rebuilding next week; I'll let you know how it goes.

Seriously, no one could reasonably answer your question without more information. One should look at the chipset for a particular CPU when considering the purchase of a motherboard. For example, currently the SiS735 offers the best price/performance for Athlon processors. This not one manufacturer or another should guide your choice.

What is ROP anyway?

My humble opinion(s);for stability-Abit, for performance-ECS, for stability and performance-Epox, For ease of setup-Gigabyte, for pure, constant headaches { but great performance when they run }-Asus, for excitement-PCChips http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

iisbob, I like your rundown! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

I've the ASUS A7V133 and iisbob is quite accurate in his accessment of ASUS...well, for sure my specific MB! If you want to go beyond the addition of 2 PCI peripheral devices they ought to have included ibuprofen, or at least warned me I'd be needing some! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
