Need HELP in LAN with BroadBand Internet

Hi all,
I want to make my computer a server and the rest computer will be connected with it, so that anybody in his/her computer can acceess Internet with his computer............and also we can share files with eachother........
I have no knowledge about networking............can anyone help me to do this......

2) How many computers?

2A) If more than one PC, how far apart will they be?

2B) If more than one PC, will you be able to run cat-5 cable netween the PC's and the router?

3) What are the operating systems?

4) Do you have cable or DSL?

4A) If you have DSL, is the DSL modem internal or external?

Theirare 6 -7 computers in out room, and v r using a broadband internet connection. and size of our room is not so big, the distance b/w 2 consiqutive computers is hardly 1-2 meters, in our system few have Dual Boot with Windows 98 and 2000. Butsome has only one Windows either 98 or 2000.

You did not say if you had an internal or external modem and if you have cable DSL or T1?

If you have:

1) Internal DSL modem. You will have to enable ICS

2) If you have an external cable or DSL modem, you will need to get a router and some cat-5 cables.

Please advise and answer all fo the questions and we can have you up and running in no time.
