Hi.
I DESPERATELY need help with this one. I am using OE 6 (with IE SP1) to read my emails from an IMAP server.
Everytime I start my OE , it works fine for a few minutes then the dreaded Illegal Operation window appears.
'Details' says "Msimn caused an invalid page fault in module directdb.dll..."
Then OE gets shut down. When I restart OE, I can't even open the IMAP Inbox. It says "The folder cannot be displayed. Possible causes are; there is not enough disk space, or physical memory is too low..."
My C:\ has got about 12GB or space left. And I have got 256MB of RAM, so I know the message is spurious.

I have searched the net, tried all the proposed I could find on the internet;
1.) "missing or corrupted folders.dbx" solution (deleted ALL the *.dbx files),
2.) uninstalled and reinstalled IE6,
3.) checked to make sure ALL the *.dbx files are not read-only,
4.) renaming the "messages.ods" file,
5.) deleted my mail account and rebuilt it,
6.) downloaded the file directdb.dll from the net and replaced the existing one
But the problem just WILL NOT go away.

Can someone please help me. P-L-E-A-S-E...

This problem is happening on a Windows 98 PC, by the way.

Have you tried removing you IMAP account and than creating it again?
Dont' worry removing your account won't remove the emails and addresses.

Hmm, you have already done a lot of changes so things may have screwed up more.

Anyway try it? And then post back.

Oh o! just noticed you've already done that?http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Try this one,

Lets try to do everything and keep the ultimate "formatting and re-installing" as the last resort.;)

You could try a different Mail Client such as Thunderbird

Curator, thanks for the help, but the link you gave I've already tried (see No. 4).

I have encountered the exact same problem also using Windows 98. Still unable to solve it. Any help would be appreciated.
