I have had a problem with the system registry for ages and have just replaced the hard drive. Two days after the registry problem reappeared and the hard drive has no free space???
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Did you transfer everything from the old HDD to the new HDD without fixing the problem first??? If you did all you have succeded to do is transfer the problem right along to the new one. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Have you done a complete and thorough Virus scan? Are you running W/Me? have you tried a "scanreg_/restore"?

1.So what sort of problem did you have with the Registry?
2. You cannot sort a problem with the registry by changing hard drive, to do it you:
A. go into the registry using Regedit and restore order. This is only for experts or someone who thinks he knows what's going wrong. Sorts the problem with ease if you know and wreaks havoc if you don't.
B. Replace the registry with a recent [clean] copy of the whole registry. It would be no good if your software or hardware had changed since it was taken.
C. Restore a recent backup taken of a clean, fully functional software setup with no changes to the hardware since doing it. This is the easiest and safest way to get your system back to a good working state.
Reformat the drive before the restore or you'll get "double images". That's where you overwrite what's on the drive and anything in the same location gets overwritten and anything which has changed gets added to; resulting in two copies of the same thing [files for example]. Your software starts seeing double.
D. Start again; reformat your C partition or your whole drive and rebuild your software from scratch.
This involves a lot of time and effort and you lose all your files etc unless you have a backup. The backup may be no good to restore [because the hardware has changed and the included copy of the registry is innapropriate] but you can still use the files. It does work though. When all else fails this is the thing to do.
