Working now on my third router (Netgear RP 614), I am posting this cry for help - my first ever echat contribution! I use windows XP, and have a Charter cable modem. When the computer and modem are linked, I never have a problem with speed. When I add the router to the mix (to hook up two other home computers), it is sometimes fast, but often slow. Restarting the network often seems to help, but since this is the third router in a row that has done this, I feel the problem must be some setting in my computer. No helpline can help, of course; they all say their piece of equipment is working just fine, thank you. Thanks in advance for advice...

The other two windows xp home pcs could be chewing up the bandwidth.
You could also try making sure that all the pcs connected are ad/spy/mal/-ware & viruses free. Seems like someone or something is chewing up the bandwidth making unncessary connections, downloading stuffs you know..
