I have just installed Outlook 2000 on two new Dell Optiplex PC's (XP Professional) which map onto an Exchange 5.5 Server on NT4.
Exchange is only used to store calendar, notes and contacts. When I switch between contacts and calendar there is a delay on 10-15 seconds. Neither XP nor NT4 appear stressed in any respect with lack of I/O or memory.
The NT4 Server disk is not badly fragmented.
Has anyone any idea how to restore good performance?

Hiya Schultzm,
Do you have any other clients using exchange? If so, are they experiancing this problem? Also, what O/S & mail client are they using?
Thanks,
Dave

All clients use Outlook 2000 on XP Professional - all with the latest MS patches applied.
They all experience the same problem.

Hmmm, that's quite odd. I'll see if I get the same problem here, are these just normal accounts on the server but they just happen not to use email? Is your exchange box actually set-up to use email or is it solely used for the other functions?
Has this ALWAYS been a problem?
Thanks,
David

I believe Exchange is only setup to provide the Contact, Tasks and Calendar functionality. The is no working e-mail functionality via Exchange.
Performance has just become an issue recently - there are 11K records in the contact database and some additional custom fields have been added via forms. I don't think on-line backups are performed and the Exchange stores have never been defragmented - I have an evaluation copy of PerfectDisk to try.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
