alert while online

Hi all,
i have a dial up connection and wonder if there is any utility of sorts that
would alert me or take message if somebody is trying to call...?
What does other ppl do to bypass this prob apart from getting a 2nd line?

Hey Anton,

This sort of thing is definately available. You can get a bit of hardware (http://www.catch-a-call-online.com/catchacall-questions-answers.html) that allows you to receive calls while online (but your connection will drop of course).

There are also many bits of software that do the job, normally popping a message onto your screen with the number calling and asking if you want to take the call (and lose your 'net connection). No idea on costs for either of these methods, but you can have trial runs of the software for free - there looks to be enough companies to keep you going on free trials for some time - but that'd be pretty annoying to keep changing!
