Laptop Power Convertor

I have an American Laptop that I am using in the UK and am currently using a regular travel adapter to convert from the 2-pin plug. I would like to get something better as I don't know how safe it is at the minute but I don't really know what my options are.

I have found some adapters at http://www.beststuff.co.uk/voltage_conversion.htm and have been told that the first one would be fine to use with a laptop. Would anyone agree?

If the existing mains adaptor will work on 240v (UK) mains, then the plug adaptor is all you need. Very few of these power adaptors actually use the third(earth)pin.

If you need a voltage convertor,the first one on your link should be OK, if the power rating is sufficient.
What is the rating (output) of the existing mains adaptor.
